Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery, Johnson County’s original farm winery, is located 20 minutes southwest of Kansas City. It is owned and operated by the Hoffs, Kansas’ oldest farm family who have farmed this land since before the Civil War. On vacation in 2004, George and Brandi took their first winery tour at Niagara on the Lake. Luscious grain fields similar to their own Kansas farm neighbored beautiful family operated vineyards and wineries. The experience was an inspiration to begin a winery in Kansas where the Hoff family is deeply rooted on their historic farm.
George, along with his brother, Frank, and cousin, Thomas Jr., convinced Tom, Sr. and wife Marcy that a winery would be a great way to keep the small acreage farm productive as the city swallowed up pastures and fields. The first vines were planted in 2007 and the winery opened for sales May 1, 2010. The family works closely with their own vines and their local growers to ensure a high quality handpicked Kansas wine. The Hoffs welcome you to come visit during regular hours or at one of their many after hour special events. Cheers!
